German fighters were stationed at Herdla, and when the Allies managed to destroy the airport…
German fighters were stationed at Herdla, and when the Allies managed to destroy the airport, Allied bombers were free to attack the ship traffic that went north and south. After many hectic attacks, we now have more than 25 vessels that we can dive to. In addition, we have several great wrecks from the post-war period that we dive regularly.
Our wrecks and wreck safari is spectacular, not only for the diving but also because of the historical perspective. This is like diving into a time capsule, where you can explore and feel how everything happened. Day after day will you visit this period that we left a long time ago, to see and discover new sides of the wrecks.
You will also get more and more in-depth briefings about the wrecks, that help you to put everything in a perspective. After a week with Wreck Safari, you know more about how the allied and the Norwegians fought against to get control of this very important area. These events were a turning point for how the war ran for us as Norwegian.
Planning Wreck diving safari trip
Wreck Diving Safari planning for tech or rec diving trip
So how do you plan for the wreck safari in Gulen? We are very flexible in how we do things. Based on our experience planning and preparing will help out a bit to make everything smooth. If you are part of a group with mixed certification we will try to make a plan that fits everybody. So don’t worry we can do most of the wrecks anyway.
We need some information from you regarding if you are planning to bring scooters. Since they take up a lot of space we can´t guaranty that you will get space on every dive. As most know when you have tech diving it will be a lot of bottles if the plan is to do tech diving.
When it comes to recreational wreck diving, the options a larger since we have more space. If the group is mixed between rec and tech we do not have the same amount of bottles to handle so it´s easier to bring a scooter as well, but we still need to know during planing.
Anyway, we will be happy to host you on our wreck diving safari and give you an unforgettable positive dive experience.
We can bring a range from 8 to 12 divers on the boat depending on the type of dives and plan for the diving.
A thorough briefing will be given before each dive. We will do our best to make sure you get the most out of every minute under water.
Download the book of GULEN as PDF it explains everything you need to know about us as a dive location and also more details on wreck diving safari options, share it with your dive buddy’s Gulen Book PDF
